Former Pakistan Capitan and commentator Ramiz Raza has praised Indian wicket-keeper batsman Kl Rahul, but at the same time talked about few things which he can do to improve his game.

After his dismal performance with the bat against England, the Karnataka batsman has turned it around in the subsequent ODI series and IPL 2021.

Raza said that when it Rahul is in full flow it is a delight for viewers but he has to improve on his strike rate and due to which the Punjab skipper sometimes find it difficult to adjust the challenges of T20 cricket.

“KL Rahul is a viewers’ delight. He is aesthetically one of the most pleasing batsmen on the eye, a purist to the hilt. For someone who is betrothed to technique, dancing to the music notes of T20 batting can be one hell of a challenge,” wrote Ramiz Raja in his column for the Khaleej Times. Raja also noted that the captaincy has added pressure on the batsman.

He also added that Rahul as an opener for Punjab Kings hurts the team sometimes. “As an opener at Punjab Kings, he has a choice to set the tone of the innings. Maybe, he puts too much price on his wicket and wants to stay till the end which pulls down the scoring rate.

“The power play batting thrust loses its steam once the field is opened up. The overall run rate in the match was 10.25. But Rahul could only muster a strike rate of 7.17,” Raja added.

Rahul in the Punjab team plays the role of anchor where sometimes he tones down his run-scoring ability which in end hurts his franchise as the moment they finished their 20 overs they are 15-20 runs short of the expected total.
