Kaka calls Gerrard a better player than Lampard

Often one has discussed as to who is better between Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard. Brazilian legend and former Ballon d’Or winner Kaka meanwhile has now weighed in his view as to who is better between the two.

While former Liverpool skipper Gerrard famously led the Reds to Champions League glory in 2005, the new Rangers manager, however, has never managed to get his hands on a Premier League winners medal.

Lampard, on the other hand, won both the coveted trophies at Chelsea and currently, remains the highest-scoring midfielder in Premier League history, however, he is arguably considered by many to be less of a defensive force than Gerrard.

Their differing styles always made for a riveting argument over who was better.

And now former AC Milan, Real Madrid, and Brazil attacking-midfielder has chosen his favourite of the two, making it sound like that it was an easy choice to decide who he’d pick in his team.

“I like Gerrard,” Kaka opined.

“Because we had this challenge between ourselves in 2005 and 2007, I really admire him.

“Of course, Lampard was pretty amazing. Scholes, the classic. But I’ll have Gerrard.”

Gerrard’s Liverpool team beat Kaka’s Milan side in the Champions League final in Istanbul in 2005, coming back from 3-0 down at half-time to win on penalties.

Speaking up about the cruel memory, Kaka admitted that his team committed a number of mistakes that cost them the trophy. He insisted that Milan learned some important lessons that day that helped them get revenge in 2007 final.

“The Champions League final, because of the way it happened,” Kaka added when asked what his most painful defeat was.

“It was painful to lose in 2006, but we just conceded a goal and made a lot of mistakes.

“In 2005, we were winning 3-0. Man, for four-five minutes we were going to win the Champions League…

“But in six minutes we conceded three goals, despite having one of the best defences in football history.

“It was tough, but it was one of the best lessons I had in my career.”

Now 37-year-old Kaka has represented Milan and Real Madrid in Europe, while has also represented Orlando City in the MLS and Sao Paulo in Brazil where he started his footballing career.
