K.R.C Genk, also known as The Smurfs, is a Belgian Football Club. They participate in the Belgian Super Cup and the Belgian Cup. The Club has also appeared in major European competitions like the UEFA Europa League, UEFA Champions League, and UEFA Super Cup.

HISTORY

Genk was founded 31 years ago in 1988 by the merger of Waterchei Thor with KFC Winterslag. The club within a few years became one of the most successful clubs in the domestic competitions in Belgium.

The successful run in domestic tournaments helped the club qualify for European competitions. The club has participated in 2002-03, 2011-12 and 2019-20 UEFA Champions League.

Club Ownership

The Chairman of the club is Peter Croonen a Belgian entrepreneur and Football driver. Since 2017, he is handling the responsibility as the chairman of Genk.

The Luminus Arena serves as the home ground of the club. Located in Genk, the stadium has a net capacity to hold 21,500 spectators.

The current net worth of the club is 109.94 Million Euros.
