He played international cricket for more than 10 years. His ability to bat and ball at the same time made him an inevitable choice for the New Zealand international team. This left-handed batsman is also a right arm fast medium bowler and he played almost all forms of cricket in his glorious career. This 6 ft player used to bat in the lower order and once he got ranked at 5 in international bowler tally!

Early Life

When in school, Jacob Oram was a representative as a soccer goalkeeper. This man studied in the Palmerston North Intermediate Normal School. After completing his intermediate days he joined Palmerston North Boys’ High School. This time around cricket started buzzing in his head and he started playing on a regular basis. He married longtime girlfriend Mara Tait Jamieson and with their son Patrick, they live in Palmerston.

Domestic Career

Jacob Oram played all forms of cricket but he dazzled in the domestic category. In the domestic section, he not only played in his country’s team but also played in Indian Premier League which is one of the most celebrated domestic T20 cricket tournaments. Here he was chosen as a part of Mumbai Indians and he played IPL in 2013. In the very next year, he started coaching ‘New Zealand A’ team. He used to be their bowling coach. He certainly trained the reserve bench of the NZ team well!

International Career

In 2007 he scored 101 in 72 balls against Australia which was the best one by a New Zealand player at that time. In his international career, he scored 1000 plus test runs, 2000 plus ODI runs, and 100 wickets.
