John Parker comes from one of the most famous cricketing families. Both of his other two brothers went into cricketing and made a name for themselves, their names being Kenneth and Murray Parker.

Being one of the best crickets of the entire 70s, he was selected as the interim captain for the Third Test Match against Pakistan in 1976.
