Mumbai Indians have surged to the top of the table after registering a 5-wicket victory over Delhi Capitals on Sunday. Delhi Capitals posted a below-par 162-run total in the first innings, courtesy an unbeaten 69-run knock by Shikhar Dhawan. Mumbai Indians, in reply, chased down the total rather easily by 5 wickets.
Mumbai Indians’ all-rounder Krunal Pandya has lauded his team’s bowling effort and was happy with the fact that the team got the early breakthrough in the power play over which created pressure on the opposition.
“We bowled very well as a unit, especially in the Powerplay where we got the early breakthrough. Whenever in the T20 format you get an early breakthrough, the pressure is more on the opposition.” He wrote.
Krunal Pandya observed that the team had bowled well in the death overs, which eventually helped them restrict Delhi to a below-par total on Sunday. He expressed his happiness over his team’s overall bowling effort against Delhi Capitals.
“The fast bowlers were special at the death, we didn’t concede that many runs and in between Chahar also bowled very well. So overall it was a very good team effort.” He added.
Krunal Pandya feels that the team is blessed to have a great fast-bowling unit, comprising the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult and James Pattinson. Pandya observed that all three bowlers bowl consistently at 140 clicks and it adds to the team’s advantage.
“It is a blessing that we have three bowlers who can bowl 140 kph consistently. So for any team to have three bowlers who can bowl quick and can swing the ball up front as well is very good for them.“
After beating Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians have reclaimed the top spot with 5 wins in 7 matches. They are slated to play their next game against Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday. Mumbai Indians have played against Kolkata Knight Riders in the tournament and won that game by 49 runs.
