IPL 2023 Deepak Chahar provides major update on MS Dhoni's speculation on IPL future!

The 16th edition of the World’s richest cricketing league in the world – the Indian Premier League is less than a week away from taking place. Anticipation of the tournament is going over the roof especially after last season’s grand success featuring 10 teams for the first time since 2011 season.

Ahead of the 16th season, there is a wave of talk going around 4-time IPL Champion MS Dhoni’s future in the IPL. Many believe that it is going to be Dhoni’s final season wearing the Yellow jersey as there are talks that the former Indian World cup winner will retire from the IPL.

Throughout Dhoni’s career he has shaped the lives of many players who have either been called washed out or were given no chance at all. One of them is Uttar Pradesh born Right arm pacer Deepak Chahar. He burst onto the IPL scene during the 2018 season of Chennai Super Kings IPL winning year.

The 30-year-old became one of the driving reasons behind CSK’s success that season as he picked 10 wickets in 12 matches with an economy rate of 7.28. Thanks to MSD’s backing, Chahar had an even better performance in 2019 by notching 22 wickets 17 outings.

11 days ahead of IPL’s opening tie between CSK and defending champions Gujarat Titans, Deepak Chahar opened up about his knowledge of MS Dhoni’s IPL retirement row. He mentioned that the CSK captain himself has not said anything about his possible retirement and Chahar stressed up on the fact that only Dhoni knows when to take such a step.

“He knows when to retire, we saw it when he did in Tests and international cricket. No one else knows. I just hope he continues to play, it’s a privilege to play under him. It has been a dream to play with him.”

Chahar also spoke about what he saw in Dhoni’s batting during the training sessions and his comments seemed positive. “He’s in good touch as well, you will see that when he bats in the IPL this year.” Chahar added.
