IPL 2021: RCB all rounder Daniel Sams tests positive for COVID-19 ahead of season opener

RCB all-rounder Daniel Sams has been tested positive for COVID-19. The news was confirmed by one of the officials from the franchise.

The Australian star player becomes the second player from the franchise after Devdutt Paddikal who are tested positive for COVID-19. Sams who joined the RCB camp on April 3rd, 2021 was initially tested negative but his report from the second test comes positive.

However, the franchise also confirmed that the all-rounder is not showing any symptoms and currently staying in isolation.

“Daniel Sams checked into the team hotel in Chennai on April 3rd, with a negative COVID report on arrival. His report from the 2nd test on 7th April came positive. Sams is currently asymptomatic and he is currently in isolation at a designated medical facility,” RCB stated in an official release.

“Royal Challengers Bangalore medical team is in constant touch with Daniel Sams and continues to monitor his health and abide by the BCCI protocols,” added the franchise.

The diagnosis will mean that he will be missing the first two games for the franchise as his team will be starting his campaign against Mumbai Indians and their second game is on 14th April 2021. During his 10 days isolation period, he will undergo an RT-Pcr test which will be conducted on Day 9 and Day 10.

He will be only allowed to join his team after his both test will come as negative. Meanwhile, Paddikal has been tested negative but is yet to join the team in Chennai.
