IPL 2020: CSK demolish KXIP to register their second win

KXIP VS CSK

After a string of losses, Chennai Super Kings have emphatically made a comeback on Sunday. Dhoni and Co. registered a 10-wicket victory over Kings XI Punjab and thereby earned their second victory in 5 matches in the tournament.

In pursuit of a 178-run total, Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis exhibited masterclass batting at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. After failing for 4 consecutive games, Shane Watson played a sensational knock of 83 runs off 53 balls on Sunday. Man in form, Faf du Plessis continued his fine run with the bat as he scored 87 runs off 53 balls. The duo hit 22 fours and 4 sixes en-route to 181 in just 17.4 overs.

Perhaps for the first time in the tournament, CSK got off to a great start. Both the batsmen struck boundaries right, left and centre as the duo compiled 60 runs in the first 6 overs.

The bowlers looked clueless as everyone except Bishnoi gave away runs at over 9 runs an over. Kings XI Punjab have been constantly making changes in the bowling but to no avail. They now have lost 4 games in 5 matches and are languishing at the bottom of the table.

KL Rahul and Co. though have been piling runs on the board consistently. The opening pair of KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal gave a good start to the innings, having notched 61 runs in the first 8 overs before Mayank departed for 26 off Piyush Chawla. KL Rahul, once again, stood out with the bat and anchored the innings. He played a fine knock of 63 but unfortunately got out just when it was time to change gears.

Crucial cameos of Mandeep Singh and Nicholas Pooran helped the team reach a competitive total of 178 in 20 overs.
