Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte explains why he would not opt for Alexis Sanchez

When asked about Alexis Sanchez’s inclusion in the game, Conte justified his decision explaining that he is not crazy to play Sanchez as he isn’t fit yet to play.

The club had to square up for 1-1 draw against Atalanta in the league, but lucky enough to still have a point after forfeiting a late penalty which was saved later.

Speaking of Sanchez, he is with Inter on loan from Manchester United and has made just four appearances for the club yet, as he juggles with his injuries. As for the Red Devils, he has so far played 20 Premier League games last season for the club.

When questioned about Sanchez’s lack of game time after the draw with Atalanta, Conte replied, “You mention Sanchez – well gentlemen, players must be fit to play,” Conte said post-match.

“I am not crazy. So, either I am a moron, or I want to hurt myself. I believe one plus one equals two. If you make one plus one equals five…

“If I put someone out of our line-up it is for a reason. It is not about performing hara-kiri or because I am a mad man.” 

“I faced this game without four key players. Atalanta is intense, with a lot of physical force,” Conte said.

“We did everything we could to try and win the game. The lads are exceptional.

“Today we had Nicolo Barella suspended, Matias Vecino with a calf problem. I’m trying to get Alexis Sanchez back in shape but in my view, we are giving everything in a very difficult situation.”

As per the points table, Milan is one point clear but will degrade to second behind Juventus, if the club beats Roma on Sunday. While Juventus has a flourishing 2020, with their first game win scoring 4-0, with the assistance of maestro Cristiano Ronaldo’s hattrick.
