Indian Super League 2019-20: The top-ranked football league in the country, Hero Indian Super League will kick start its sixth season, starting from October 20 2019, with two-time finalists Kerala Blasters FC taking on two-time champion Athletico Kolkata in the first match of the top division league. 

Indian Super League Format
The enthralling football league will run from 20th October to 23 February 2020, hosting as many as 90 league phase matches, followed by the finals.

As many as 10 teams will play each other twice, home and away, for 18 matches in the league stage. The top four sides after the completion of the league stage matches will qualify for the playoffs. The top two teams post the qualifiers will meet in the final of the Indian Super League season six.

India’s top-division football league, Indian Super League has successfully organised five seasons so far. The first season kicked off on October 12, 2014. ATK were crowned the champions in the inaugural season, while Chennaiyin FC won the second season.

Winner: Atletico Madrid
Runner Up: Kerala Blasters

2014 Indian Super League was the inaugural season of the top-division football league. The tournament began with Atletico Madrid Kolkata taking on Mumbai City in the first match. The final of the inaugural season of Indian Super League saw Atletico Madrid Kolkata squaring up with Kerala Blasters on 20th December. Athletico Madrid Kolkata won the final 1-0 with Mohammad Rafique being the lone goalscorer in the match.

Winner: Chennaiyin FC
Runner Up: FC Goa

The second season of Indian Super League kick-started on 3rd October and concluded on 20th December. The final match of the second season was held on 11 December between FC Goa and Chennaiyin FC at the Fatorda Stadium in Goa. Chennayin got the better off FC Goa 3-2 in the finals to be crowned as the champions of Indian Super League season 2.

Indian Super League 2016 was the third season of the top-division league. As many as 8 teams participated in the league. Indian Super League season third’s regular-season ran between 1 October and 4th December, while the finals began on 10th December and ran till 18th December. The final of Indian Super League 2016 was played between Atletico de Kolkata and Kerala Blasters, with the former winning the game in penalty shootout 4-3.

The 2017 Indian Super League is the fourth season of the top-division league, since its establishment in 2013. The 2017 Indian Super League featured as many as 10 teams with two new teams joining the league, Bengaluru and Jamshedpur. The regular season began on 17 November 2017 and concluded on 4th March 2018, while the finals held between 7 March and 17 Match 2018. Chennaiyin FC beat Bengaluru Bulls 3-2 in the finals to clinch the trophy for the second time in the history of the league.

The fifth season of the Indian Super League began on 29th September 2018. The League season ran between 29th September 2018 and 17 March 2019, while the finals. The defending champions Chennaiyin failed to qualify in the finals of the 2018-2019 Indian Super League. Bengaluru Bulls FC won their maiden title, beating FC Goa 1-0 in the final.
