Indian Olympic Association (IOA) To take a call in a month time for the Tokyo Olympics

2020 Tokyo Olympics

The biggest sporting event that is scheduled to happen in Tokyo in July-August is in doubt considering the impact of Corona Virus or (Covid 19). Most of the Countries are still taking calls that whether they will be sending their athletes to participate in this mega event or not. Thus Canada has become the first country to pull out there name from Tokyo Olympics if the Olympics will be held this year. However, IOA (Indian Olympic Association) has a different take on it. IOA secretary general Rajeev Mehta said that we are closely monitoring the situation of this pandemic that has created havoc as it has claimed 14,000 lives all over the world and it has infected more than 300,000 globally and still the cases are rising every day.

He stated that “ We will wait for the next 4 to 5 weeks and then will consult it from IOC(International Olympic
Committee) along with Sports Ministry” and then will take a final call on it that whether we will send Indian Sportsperson to participate in this Olympics or not.”

Mehta further added that “Fortunately the situation in our country is not as bad as compare to other nations.”

However, if reports are to be believed IOC (International Olympic Association) will also wait for the next 4-5 weeks and will take a final call on Olympics 2020 that whether it will be scheduled on time or will it be postponed to further dates.

If you talk about Indian Numbers based on the coronavirus cases it has reported more than 360+ cases so far along with 7 Deaths. We need to closely wait and see how the situation shapes up and in the next 4-5 weeks, we might hear an announcement from IOC(International Olympic Association) about Olympics 2020.
