Indian New Shooter Star: Vijayveer Sidhu wins Gold for Country in 25 Metre Rapid Pistol Event
Indian Sports Shooting is on the rise and credit should be given stakeholders who have worked hard behind the scenes to make this entity extremely popular.
Talking about latest development, Vijayveer Sidhu wins Gold medal in 25 meter Rapid Pistol event where he clinched only 1 successful shots out of remaining 5 shots, which wasn’t on target but eventually with his score went on to win Gold Medal.
Vijayveer with 29 points clinched Gold Medal followed by Italy’s Riccardo Mazzetti with 28 points and Yuhao Yang of China with 23 points clinched bronze medal.
He stated ” As shooter you have your day someday you shoot well and someday you won’t so I can say Tuesday was that day for me where I hit successful shots, when it comes to Olympics it certainly was worst day for me but I move on quickly also me winning Gold medal will forget this going forward as I will focus on next target now”

Vijayveer also had his twin brother Udayveer Sidhu, developed interest in Shooting due to their father who wanted them to play Sports Shooting professionally eventually they both started learning shooting in 2012.
His mother Rano, History teacher said while talking to distinct media outlets where she said ” We used to live in Mansa Chandigarh subsequently move in Chandigarh for better facilities.
The incident which hit us rockbottom, where my husband passed away in 2017, it was difficult period for them however hindsight it gave motivation to both children to do well in Sports Shooting”
She added ” Shooting is an expensive sport, where you can’t afford Pistol if you come from middle class family. In first 4 years, they rented Pistol used to do dry practice (It simply means practicing with empty pallets in order to reduce cost and eventually save money to buy pistol”.
“Our fate changed in 2019, when they qualified for Khelo India Games 2019 edition, where they did well and eventually they started earning money and our fate changed after that”
Vijayveer Sidhu is also member of Target Olympic Podium Scheme(It’s a scheme launched by Sports Ministry, where athletes who are projected to win medals are provided the best of facilities which include- best training facilities, diet and coaching expertise”.
If Indian players keep their Pyschological instinct high in bigger events like Olympics they certainly have skills to win big in Biggest Sporting Event.
