Former England skipper Alastair Cook highlighted the important factor in response to the result of recently concluded WTC final between India and New Zealand.

It is certain that New Zealand outplayed India in all departments on the eve of the final but Cook said that India lost because of Intra Squad games they played among themselves before heading into final on the other end Kiwis played 2 match Test series against England which they won by 1-0.

Cook feels that India were hard done in that way.

“I did say New Zealand were going to win that game purely down the fact that they were match hardened. Those two test matches against England were such perfect preparation” said Cook on BBC Tuffer and Voadfone podcast.

Cook also added that Indian batsman looked rusty as they were playing in the whites after a long time and it is quite evident as none of the Indian batsman were able to reach 50 run mark. The pace setup which was expected that it will deliver failed to the expectations.

India will next lock horns against England for five match Test series on August 4th 2021 which will also mark resumption of second cycle of WTC 2021-23.
