India vs England 5th Test to be rescheduled to next year at Edgbaston

For all Test cricket lovers, the much anticipated India-England series where Men in Blue were leading by 2-1 with the final match that was postponed due to COVID-19 cases inside India’s biosecure bubble.

There was a lot of speculations, that whether the last match will be a solo test or will be conducted as part of the same five-match series and now all those questions have been put to rest as England and Wales Cricket Board posted on their Twitter handle, that fifth test match that will be conducted will be part of the same series and now the last match will be scheduled at Edgbaston.

“The fifth match of the LV= Insurance Test Series between England Men and India Men has been rescheduled and will now take place in July 2022,” a statement from the ECB’s media release read. With India leading the series 2-1, the concluding fifth match will now take place from July 1, 2022, at Edgbaston, following an agreement between the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).”

Taking about that series, India gave tough time to host three Lions and were looking all set to win the final match but the casualty happened after Head Coach Ravi Shastri was tested positive for COVID-19 and bowling coach Bharat Arun, fielding coach R Sridhar and team physio Nitin Patel, identified as close contacts of Shastri, were isolated from the rest of the squad.

India is currently one of the top-ranking red-ball cricketing sides in the world and if you compare their current bowling attack in Test format the other team who is completely at par with them is New Zealand who has won the inaugural edition of the World Test Championship final which Black Caps won Men in Blue by eight wickets.
