The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup is just upon us and all the teams are preparing for it in full flow. The Australian Women’s team, who are the defending champions are preparing a little extra because defending the title is more difficult than winning it. The tournament is scheduled to begin on 10^th February 2023 where the hosts South Africa Women will take on Sri Lanka Women.

India’s star left-handed batter Smriti Mandhana is the player to watch out for in the forthcoming T20 World Cup from the Indian camp. She is currently placed at the third position in ICC Women’s T20I rankings for batters.

She is a very important player for the Indian team as she has the capability to take the game away from the opposition at any stage in the match. She was also named in the ICC Women’s T20I Team of the year which was announced by the ICC a few days ago.

She scored a total of 594 runs in the year 2022 in about 23 T20I matches that she played. Her average was 33 and had a strike rate of more than 130. It was her best year in terms of runs scored in T20I matches in a calendar year.

She has started 2023 in the same manner and looks set to go all guns blazing at the World Cup. Till Mandhana stays at the crease, no match of the Indian team will be considered over. She is one of the most probable candidates for winning the Player of the Tournament trophy later at the World Cup.
