ICC faces heavy criticism after disallowing DRS for the ICC Cricket World cup 2023 Qualifier matches from June!

The ICC 50-over World cup 2023 begins in less than 6 months time and all the team will be aiming to have a good time in India as they host the event after 12 years. It was a glorious occasion at the Wankhede stadium in 2011 when MS Dhoni had sent one in the stands and handed the Men in Blue a second World cup trophy and first since 1983.

But as the tournament begins, focus will definitely be on the ICC WTC Final at Oval and also the ICC Cricket World cup qualifiers in June-July. The International Cricket council is under a lot of questions after they decided to ban the usage of Decision review System for the World cup qualifiers.

It will definitely impact the game for a bit as we all know how important DRS has become in modern day cricket. It is a boom for the teams in case they are confident to challenge the Umpire’s decision. We have also seen many decisions get overturned and in favor of the teams that appeal.

Thus, DRS’ exclusion could be a massive blow. However, the 3rd Umpire will refer the run-out attempts but not on LBWs and edges. Meanwhile, the ICC Cricket World Cup qualifiers will begin from 18 June onwards and Zimbabwe will host all the matches until 9th of July.

It will be played between 10 teams and we will get to see some extremely competitive contests. Netherlands, Zimbabwe, Sri-Lanka and West Indies are all in the fray for the Qualifiers.
