“I won’t take the headache of retiring from the IPL now…”, MS Dhoni rekindles retirement debate!

One of the biggest questions that is arising from this year’s IPL is that whether we’ll see the Legendary Wicket-keeper Batsman MS Dhoni continue to play IPL cricket. There is a lot of noise going around his availability for the next season with some saying that it is his final season while some are saying there is still a year’s cricket left in MSD.

He has been dealing with a Knee injury this season and his fitness has also degraded. As Irfan Pathan tweeted a few weeks ago, its sad to see Dhoni run so slow, there was a time when he used to run like a Cheetah. Even Dhoni himself said after a match this season that he doesn’t want to run a lot and it clearly indicates that life is getting to him.

If we talk about how season 16 has panned out for MS Dhoni then it has been a joyous ride for him, the team and the fans. They secured play-off qualifications in their final league match against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium and after beating Gujarat Titans last night in Qualifier 1, CSK have become the first team to go all the way to the Finals.

The Yellow brigade was being backed by their very own supporters at Chepauk and MSD’s side made sure the fans did not go back with a sad face. Co-incidentally it was CSK’s final home game of IPL 2023 and now they will be awaiting for their opponents in the Final, scheduled to take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium on 28th May.

After CSK defeated GT by 15 runs, MS Dhoni dropped major hints about featuring in next year’s IPL. During the post-match presentation, Harsha Bhogle asked him if people will see him play IPL again or not and Dhoni gave a fitting reply which actually matches his persona.

In his calm and composed behavior, Dhoni said that he is not in any type of rush and he still has has at least 8-9 months to decide. “I don’t know, I have 8-9 months to decide. Why take that headache now. I have ample time to decide. The auction is in December. I will always come to CSK. I have been out of home from January, been practicing since March, so we will see.”
