Navjot Singh Sidhu on Sanju Samson's catch

The recent match between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals in IPL (Indian Premier League) 2024 saw a lot of controversies. On Tuesday, May 7, these two teams faced each other at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi in the 56th match of the tournament. Now, Navjot Singh Sidhu has spoked about a controversy in this match.

During the run chase in DC vs RR  match, as long as Sanju Samson was batting, the Rajasthan team looked to be in a very strong position. Sanju Samson performed brilliantly in batting. He scored 86 runs in 46 balls but due to a mistake by the umpire, he could not finish the match for his team.

Sanju Samson tried to play a big shot on the ball of Mukesh Kumar but Hope caught Samson on the boundary line. These catch out decision was very controversial as people are divided into two groups

Navjot Singh Sidhu’s opinion on Sanju Samson’s controversial catch

Former Team India cricketer and star commentator Navjot Singh Sidhu has also expressed his displeasure over the decision of this out.

Expressing his anger, Navjot Singh Sidhu told Star Sports,

The game changed when Sanju Samdon was given out. No matter what anyone says, there can be different opinions on this but if we watch the replay from the side, the foot touches the boundary twice and it is very clear.’

Sidhu further said that

I am very clear, either you do not use technology, and if you use technology and the technology is wrong, then it is like seeing a fly in milk and swallowing it. If someone says it is out, then the fans and a neutral person like me will say that now that you have shown me, you are saying there is a fly in the milk and you are telling me to drink, I will not drink. It is not out.’

In the 16th over of Rajasthan Royals’ innings, Sanju Samson played an aerial shot at long-on off Mukesh Kumar but Shai Hope, who was fielding there, took the catch. During this, his balance wavered a bit and it seemed that his foot had touched the boundary line.

The matter went to the third umpire but he did not give the decision in favor of the batsman and Samson also looked angry due to this. However, Samson had to return to the pavilion on a personal score of 86. During his inning, it seemed that the team would win the match but as soon as he was out, Rajasthan Royals’ innings faltered and Delhi won the match by 20 runs.
