Ever since the Government has restricted the lockdown in the country, several Indian cricketers have turned to outdoor training with whatever facilities they have at their disposal at the moment.
Cricketers such as Cheteshwar Pujara, Mohammad Shami, and Ishant Sharma have been seen hitting the nets.
Left-handed batsmen, Rishabh Pant and Suresh Raina too have been practising together lately in a cricket stadium in Ghaziabad. In an exclusive IGTV video for Chennai Super Kings on Monday, Suresh Raina spoke highly about Rishabh Pant and wants him to be the best version of himself.
“He is a top guy. I want him to be who he is. I just want him to be the best batsman for his calibre.” Raina said.
Rishabh Pant also talked about his experience playing alongside someone like Suresh Raina. Pant said that Raina acts as a guiding light to him as the former learns a lot from Raina, be it off the field or on the feild.
“It’s been a good experience because with him (Raina) you can learn a lot of things. He is a left-handed batsman. You have got that brotherhood. He teaches me a lot of things, on and off the field situations. We discuss a lot of things and it’s helping me.” Rishabh Pant affirmed.
Given that Mahendra Singh Dhoni is in the twilight of his career, Rishabh Pant is perceived as the former Indian skipper’s successor. However, inconsistent performances at the big stage mean Rishabh Pant isn’t an automatic selection in India’s limited over’s side.
For him to cement his place in the Indian team, it’s time that he should turn up with excellent performances on a consistent basis.
Rishabh Pant, in his international career so far, has played 13 Tests, 16 ODIs and 28 T20 internationals, scoring 814, 374 and 410 runs respectively.
