Heath Streak Passes Away: Former Zimbabwe Captain Dies at 49

Heath Streak was the former captain of the Zimbabwe cricket team. He was suffering from cancer for a long time, and recently his Wife posted on social media about his death. This has broken the hearts of many fans around the world. He was definitely one of the best players in Zimbabwean Cricket history. He led the team to brilliant victories, and he is to date the most successful bowler Zimbabwe has ever produced.

Reason of Heath Streak’s death 

Streak was suffering from Liver Cancer, and because of that, he lost his life. Even though doctors tried hard to save his life, the Cancer had already done the damage to his body. In his last days, he went on to lose a lot of weight, and ultimately that took away his life. 

In his last days, Streak wished to spend as much time as possible with his family. Those were certainly tough days for his wife and children. 

Streak’s cricketing records for Zimbabwe

The records of Heath Streak are nothing less than great for Zimbabwe. He did everything for his country, whether it was taking wickets, or making runs. He was able to get the best of both worlds. 

  • He was part of the “Golden Era” for Zimbabwean Cricket. At the same time, he was able to make a vital contribution. 
  • He was the first bowler from Zimbabwe to have taken 100 Test wickets. 
  • Streak was the fourth Zimbabwe bowler to have taken 100 ODI wickets. 
  • He became the first cricketer from Zimbabwe to complete 1000 Test runs and 100 wickets in Test Cricket. 
  • In ODIs, Streak became the first Cricketer to score 2000 ODI runs and take 200 wickets in ODI. 

Yuvraj Singh played his tribute on Twitter. He mentioned his battle with Cancer. At the same time, he mentioned his grief on his demise. There is no doubt that Streak is definitely going to be missed by all the fans of cricket around the world, and his contribution will be remembered. No doubt wherever he is, he is resting in peace.
