Has Sourav Ganguly Been Offered BCCI President Post in Exchange of Contesting W. Bengal Assembly Elections in 2021?

Sourav Ganguly is set to become next BCCI president in a few days, and the cricket fraternity has been jumping out of the couch with sheer happiness. Ganguly has already proved the mettle after captaining India for 5 years and serving as a president of CAB (Cricket Association of Bengal).

Looking at the track record, he is the ideal candidate to serve the BCCI president post, but if sources are to be believed, a secret deal is made behind the curtains between Sourav Ganguly and Amit Shah.

It is believed that Ganguly met home minister Amit Shah on Saturday and offered BCCI president post in exchange of contesting assembly elections from West Bengal in 2021.

Although, Union home minister Amit Shah denied his any involvement in BCCI elections and making a secret pact with Sourav Ganguly.

He stated “I did not decide who will be BCCI president. BCCI has its own election process for it,” Amit Shah told a news channel.

When Amit Shah was asked about his meeting with Ganguly, the home minister said, “There is no harm in Sourav Ganguly meeting me. He can come see me. I have been associated with cricket for years.”

Regarding the deal, he said “There has been no such deal or talks with him. It is just bad-mouthing against Sourav Ganguly,”

If he does, it’s good. But there has been no such deal with him about it.”

“I tell every citizen of this country that the BJP is a good party to join. It’s my job,” Amit Shah added.

Everyone knows Ganguly enjoys a demigod status in West Bengal and BJP will look to cash in his iconic popularity to remove Mamta Banerjee as chief minister of West Bengal.

According to the reports, BJP was in touch with Sourav Ganguly before the 2016 Assembly elections.

When asked about the BJP party face in West Bengal, he said “We don’t need a face for the BJP in Bengal. We won 18 seats in Bengal without a face and lost few seats here and there.”
