Haaland's debut hattrick allows the player to complete a sensational comeback

Norwegian sensation and Dortmund’s new signing Erling Braut Haaland scored a second-half hat trick after coming on as a substitute on a dream Bundesliga debut to help Borussia to complete an incredible comeback against Augsburg in Bundesliga.

The £25 million worth signing from RB Salzburg came on as a substitute on 56th minute for Florian Niederlechner when Borussia Dortmund was struggling with a scoreline 3-1. However, the striker took just 3 minutes to wrap up his first goal for Borussia Dortmund. Also, the player completed a hattrick in just 23 minutes.

Talking to the media, Erling Braut Haaland told Sky Germany;

“It was a good day. I’m happy,”  “Right now, I’m very relaxed to be honest.”

With scoring a hattrick, Haaland raked up many records for himself. The winter transfer window signing became the first player since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to score a hattrick on a debut in Bundesliga for Borussia Dortmund.

Impressed by the performance, Dortmund’s captain Marco Reus opined;

“If it’s the same success story with the goals, then I’d sign up for that,” .

“He’s making a good impression and had a super first day.”

Niederlechner had a goal ruled out for offside before a mistake was committed from Thorgan Hazard opened the door for Augsburg to open the goal just after the half an hour mark. Hazard’s backward pass was a wrong one and Niederlechner jumped on it to score. Also, Dortmund was in shock when Manuel Akanji’s poor clearance was capitalized by Marco Ritcher who sooted past Roman Burki in Dortmund’s net.

Even though Julian Brandt reduced the deficit in the 49th minute by scoring a goal, the poor defending from Dortmund allowed Niederlechner to score the goal and put 3 past Dortmund’s goalkeeper. Seeing the team moving towards loss, Favre made a change and brought Haaland to the pitch. The player wasted no time to put the effort into bringing the team back to the game. He set up his fellow teenager Jadon Sancho to player’s first goal of the day.

Two minutes later, Jadon Sancho equalized after two minutes following a great ball from Mats Hummels. Also, VAR came to help out Dortmund’s Haaland where his second goal was initially ruled out for offside. Marco Reus sent Haaland through in the 79th minute to help out the teenager to earn the match ball.
