GG vs DC WPL 2023 Highlights: Shafali Verma explosive batting guided victory for Capitals by 10 wickets

Shafali Verma

After restricting Gujarat to a meagre 105 runs total in their allotted 20 overs, the Capitals found it simple to reach their objective as they destroyed the Giants with a mammoth undefeated 76-run knock played by opener Shafali Verma supported by skipper Β Meg Lanning’s 21 runs to ensure that Capitals cross the line quite comfortably against Giants.

When it comes to the game’s tempo, the Giants were out of the contest after losing five early wickets for a total of 25 runs in the first few overs.

Finally, Giants managed to score 105 runs at the cost of 9 wickets thanks to Kim Garth’s 32-run knock, which was assisted by Wareham and Harleen Deol’s combined 42-run contribution.

Marizanne Kapp, Shikha Pandey, and Radha Yadav were the bowlers of choice and collectively claimed 9 wickets.

When Gujarat came out to defend, due to a lack of a strategy to contain the 105 runs already on the board, their bowling plans ruined.

Georgia Wareham, Kim Garth, and Ash Gardener all put out great effort, but to no avail.

There is something wrong in the Titians Camp; Dunkley was dropped despite the fact that she scored 60 runs in the last game, and giving Laura Woolvaardt a chance in the top order in her position seemed illogical.

Instead, they would have batted Woolvaardt lower in the order and dropped the foreign player.

Rana didn’t seem to be satisfied with the group of people she was entrusted to lead at the time, and something doesn’t seem to be tactically working for them.

They appear pretty defeated on the field, and it is unclear what application they have been using for the last four games.

Gujarat Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore have struggled thus far in the WPL 2023, and both of these teams share the same issue: they are unable to take advantage of the best opportunities after performing admirably in the crunch overs. This is an area they need to improve moving forward.

There won’t be much room for them to advance in this major tournament if they don’t deal with this problem.

Gujarat and Bangalore don’t deserve to be in the top three of the points table, given the calibre of cricket they have thus far played.
