Gautam Gambhir names the bowler who can trouble Andre Russell in IPL 2020

Andre Russell is best known as the heartbeat of Kolkata Knight Riders. He has been prolific run-scorer for the side over the years. Russell enjoyed a phenomenal season for KKR last season. He was the highest run-scorer for the side, scoring 510 runs in 14 matches at an average of 56.67 and a strike rate of 204.

Ahead of the 2020 IPL, Andre Russell is looked a big threat to the opposition. No bowler would want to face him when the West Indies all-rounder is on song. In fact, there aren’t many bowlers who trouble Russell in the shortest format of the game.

However, Gautam Gambhir, recently, named one bowler who can win the battle against the West Indies cricketer. According to him, Jasprit Bumrah is one bowler who can succeed against Andre Russell.

“There might be two or three of them in the IPL who could trouble him but not beyond that. I don’t see bowlers other than probably someone like Jasprit Bumrah who can actually trouble Andre Russell,” Gambhir said on the Cricket Connected Show on Star Sports.

Andre Russell likely to bat at number three in IPL 2020

Even after playing destructive knocks last season, Andre Russell was sent in as low as number five or six sometimes throughout the tournament. The management has realised that and could send Russell at number at as high as number three.

“If it benefits the team and helps us win games of cricket, why not? If he comes in at No. 3 and bats 60 balls, he might even score a double hundred. Anything can happen with Dre Russ. He is almost the heartbeat of the team.” KKR team mentor, David Hussey said in an interview.
