Football News : Manchester United continue their redemption! Enter their first League cup final in 6 years.

Seems like the glory days of Manchester United are not far away from returning. Erik Ten Hag, his philosophy his tactics and his professionalism could be what the Red Devils were missing in all these years. Pardon me if i did not mention any other attribute of his, but Manchester United is back to run the show.

Many would agree that Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer’s tenure also began in a similar fashion but the Norwegian failed to break the trophy drought. The last time Manchester United won a major trophy was the UEFA Europa League in 2017 under Jose Mourinho.

In the Premier League, however, United haven’t finished on top of the table since 2013 (SAF era). They have got closer to their 14th PL title but haven’t been able to stand against the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City but this could change in a few years.

Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag’s management has taken United to the Carabao Cup Final for the first time in almost 6 years. The 2016-17 season was the last time they entered a league cup final and won the trophy for the 5th time in their history.

Last night at the Old trafford, a place in the Final was secured thanks to 73rd and 76th minute goals from Anthony Martial and Fred against Nottingham Forest. The Red Devils have a chance of landing their 6th EFL Cup and first under the Dutchman when they take on Newcastle United in the final.

The 2nd leg was a mere obligation as United had already put one step inside the final following a 3-0 victory at Nottingham’s home ground.

“It’s great but you play finals to win. It is not an achievement to come into a final. We want to win them but first we have other things to do. We come back to the Premier League and bury this cup. It is good to reach the final but it is not about reaching the final, it is about winning it. Now the focus is on the Premier League, in two days it will continue.
