Fastest Batsmen to Reach 9000 runs in ODI

Fastest 9000 Runs in ODI Cricket

There is a reason why, despite being the most vulnerable, humans still rule the planet. Once upon a time, ODI cricket wasn’t considered real cricket. It came into existence to entertain the masses through colored jerseys, scorching boundaries and tumbling wickets. ODI cricket has no face value.

5000 ODI runs were the barometer to enter the elite club of great ODI batsmen. ODI cricket requires no technique and temperament, it was a “hit out or get out” game. ODI cricket only required one game-changer to pour confidence and respect for the format. Then enters three stalwarts of the game: Sachin Tendulkar, Saurav Ganguly, and Sanath Jayasuriya.

They not only revolutionized the ODI cricket, restoring the respect the format deserves but charged the dying test format too. They became the players to surpass the milestone of scoring 10,000 runs in ODI cricket. Most of them finished around 13000 marks, except Tendulkar, who went on to cross the 18000 ODI run barrier.

In 2018, 9000 ODI runs is a new yardstick the judges the skill set and longevity of the player. There are only  19 batsmen to have crossed the 9K mark and register their name in the cricket annals.
