Ewen Chatfield - Age, Stats and Career

A former cricketer in the New Zealand international cricket team and born in the year 1950 on 3rd July, Ewen John Chatfield had played around 43 test matches and about 115 ODIs. He was mainly a medium paced bowler and was mainly known for the accuracy with which he played the game.

His great bowling skills are reflected on the economic figures that he contributed for the game but his skills were a bit limited when it comes to the line and length of the game. He made his test cricketing debut against England in the year 1975 whereas his debut One Day International match was against West Indies in the year 1975.

Ewen Chatfield was one of the key players in the domestic team of Wellington. He was one of the main reasons why his team was able to defeat the West Indies in the year 1980 which was the best cricket team at that time. He was also the first cricketer to receive the award of Hutt City Sportsperson of the year because of the great game that he delivered for his team Hutt Valley in the Hawke Cup.

Coming to his international career, Ewen Chatfield was a significant member of the New Zealand cricket team who won the first series of test cricket against Australia and England in both home ground as well as away from home ground. He was one of the bowling partners of Sir Richard Hadlee. He has made some great contributions in the world cricket and is regarded as one of the classic players of all times that existed in the international cricket team of New Zealand. He played his last test match as well as One Day International match against Pakistan in the year 1989 for both the types. Post-retirement he did many odd jobs which included being a taxi driver, driving a dairy van, etc.
