EPL 2022/23 : Title race intensifies as City fans desperate to see Liverpool win against Arsenal!

When English Premier League action resumes this weekend, few club fans will be supporting their rival clubs as it could help their team’s position in the points table. Probably for the first time in 4 years, Manchester City management as well as their fans will support Liverpool to grab a win against league leaders Arsenal.

The Gunners have been on top of the standings ahead of City since 18th of February when the reigning champions suffered a tough 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest right after the previous match day where they had stunned Arsenal 3-1.

Pep Guardiola’s side are trailing by 8 points at the moment and they will have a chance to cut it short by 5 points when they travel to Southampton later tonight. Their Norwegian number 9 is set to make a return this weekend after picking up a knock and leaving his International duties with Norway.

His fitness will be very crucial for the Cityzens as all of their forthcoming matches are going to be like finals especially if they are to win the Premier League. In the UEFA Champions League they face Bayern Munich in the Quarter-finals before welcoming Leicester and traveling to the Emirates Stadium to decide the composition of the title race up ahead.

As for Arsenal, everything that Mikel Arteta’s side needs to do is win until the very last match of the season. But they have an imperative task in hand as Liverpool must win this game after a 4-1 drubbing to the hands of City last weekend. A win for Jurgen Klopp’s side will at least give them a chance to enter the top 4 if Tottenham slips against Brighton later today.

Meanwhile, today at the St. Mary’s Stadium, City will line-up without Phil Foden as he will miss the game due to illness. City Manager Pep Guardiola expressed his excitement ahead of their away game at St. Mary’s – “It’s exciting just to play some of them, also to play against Pep, hen let’s see what we can do. I think we prepared a solid and robust game plan.”
