Reigning English Premier League champions Manchester City can cut the 5 point gap by 2 if they ensure a win tonight against Tottenham Hostpurs. Its all to play for in the 2nd half of the season and chances are that the 2022/23 season could end like the previous one.
Arsenal are leading the title charge as they are not of the standings with 50 points. A shocking loss yesterday against the hands of Everton kept them away from furthering their lead at the top. All that Manchester City needs to do right now is win the game and treat every following match like the Final.
This has been their theme since probably 2011 but they will be tested tonight at North London. City’s opponents are 5th in the Premier League table and have always proved to be very tough opponents. Last season Spurs won both of their PL meetings – 1-0 in the season opener and 3-2 at the Etihad stadium.
This will be their 2nd PL fixture this season and City had the first blow as they came back from behind to win 4-2 at home. Pep Guardiola’s side will be without right back Joao Cancelo after his Loan deal got approved on time during the January transfer window.
That leaves Sergio gomez and Nathan Ake to take the LB position and Rico Lewis could retain his spot if Kyle Walker is in contention to play.
It is an important fixture for both the teams as City are chasing the title and Spurs are chasing a top 4 spot. Though a win will not be enough for the hosts to get into the Top 4 but Harry Kane and Spurs are capable of spoiling their title charge and latest opportunity to get close to Arsenal.
