Dutee Chand, who has created her own image in Indian society by her impeccable decisions, has taken another step out of the convention for the Olympics. The athlete is taking on the boys in Bhubaneswar for a ticket to the Tokyo Olympics. Out of the national camp, Dutee is running in Bhubaneswar in the 100 meters with two boys taking time of 10.8 to 10.9 seconds.
Dutee revealed to that she is also running 400 meters to one kilometer with the boys to enhance her physical ability. According to Dutti, for the first time, she has chosen the path of training with boys to touch 11.15 seconds for Tokyo Olympic qualification. Running with the girls in the camp does not help her to touch this time, but she feels that she will definitely get an Olympic ticket next year by competing with the boys.
According to Dutee , she started this preparation for the Olympics in November with the help of the state government. Although the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) is meant to help the players for the Olympics, but she was not included in it, then the state government came forward to help her. This is the reason why she is preparing with a 10-member team of experts in Bhubaneswar. There are no other athletes of her level in the state, due to which on Dutee’s request the government allowed boys to train with her.
In October, Dutee set a national record time of 11.22 seconds, however, this times was less than the Olympic qualification time of 11.15 seconds. Therefore, Dutee felt that to improve her time by .07 seconds, it was necessary to run with those who took better time than her. This could not happen in the camp. This is the reason why she chose Bhubaneswar for training with special permission from the Federation. She runs 100 and 200 meter sprints with the boys. Apart from this, she also runs 400 meters and one kilometer.
She will continue preparing with the boys for the next two months. She will then compete in competitions for Olympic tickets. She hopes that the way she qualified in the last moments for the Rio Olympics, this time she will also be able to get an Olympic ticket through these special preparations.
