Paytm, the prominent fintech giant, has assumed the role of the official sponsor for the 37th edition of the National Games, presently taking place in Goa. The tournament was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda, South Goa.

In addition to this sponsorship, Paytm has announced its exclusive partnership with the Goa government as the mobile payments provider for their digitalization initiatives. Under the leadership of Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Paytm will introduce QR codes, soundbox technology, and card machines in various government departments, including panchayats and municipalities within the state.

The 37th edition of the National Games is scheduled from October 26 to November 9, drawing over 10,000 athletes from across the country to compete in 43 diverse sports disciplines at 28 different venues. Modeled after the Olympics, the National Games will bring together representatives from 28 states and 8 union territories.

Sporting events, known for their substantial viewership, present a prime opportunity for companies to enhance their brand recognition through advertising and sponsorship agreements. Even startups, while investing heavily in advertising for rapid growth, tend to favor sports events, particularly those related to cricket, for their promotional endeavors.

Reliance Industries Ltd, which recently unveiled its financial results for the quarter ending in September, credited the growth of its OTT platform, JioCinema, to its involvement in sports.

The Indian National Games represent a significant and pivotal sporting event, contributing significantly to nurturing national unity and the development of athletic talent. Taking place biennially, this sporting extravaganza brings together athletes from every nook and cranny of the nation, encompassing a wide spectrum of sports disciplines.
