Deodhar Trophy 2023 came to an end with a great final between South Zone and East Zone. It was certainly a bit one-sided because South Zone was a far better team. However, on the other side East Zone tried their best to fight back, but they were not able to show their full potential. South Zone was strong not only through their bowling but even in the area of batting they did really well.

Key moment of the match
There were several key moments in the match. East Zone certainly showed a good fightback. For that, their middle order fought back really well, but that effort was certainly not good enough.
South Zone innings
- South Zone batted first and got a brilliant opening stand. Mayank Aggarwal and Kunnummal gave the opening stand of 181 runs. That was truly a brilliant effort. On one end Kunnummal batted with a strike rate of 142 and got 107 runs on 75 balls. On the other end, Mayank Aggarwal rotated the strike with his 63 for 83.
- By the time the score was 184 runs, both the openers were out. But the damage had been done by that time.
- Consistently there were some small partnerships in the middle order, and that made the team total reach 328 runs after 50 overs.
East Zone innings
- East Zone was not able to execute their plans from the first over. In the first over they were able to score only 1 run, and then in the 2nd over their first wicket fell.
- East Zone lost the first 3 wickets only at the score of 14. Soon, the score was 72-4 and with a little effort by Sudip Kumar Gharami, the score reached 115-5.
- Riyan Parag and Kumar Kushagra took the score from 115 to 220. Their partnership of 105 runs was certainly brilliant and full of hopes. But after this partnership, the batting lineup of the East Zone didn’t show any commitment.
Soon, East Zone was all out for 283, and the winner of the Deodhar Trophy 2023 is South Zone. Thanks to the brilliant performance of their openers and bowlers.
