Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers engaged in their first scrimmage at the Walt Disney World Resort ahead of the NBA restart on Friday. Mavericks defeated the Lebron James ad Co. by 108-104 points in Orlando and to some extent, it came as a shocker to the Western Conference giants on their return to the floor for the first time after March.
Dion Waiters was the debutant of the night as he played for the Lakers and scored nine points against the Mavericks. The Lakers were leading in the first half with the duo LeBron James and Anthony Davis leading their side to 55-44. Lebron James scored 12 points (5 assists and 3 rebounds) and his mate Davis also led with 12 points.

As the second half started, Mavericks started building pressure on the Lakers’ guards, spearheaded by Luka Doncic’s 14 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Seth Curry was the highest scorer as he scored 23 points in just 15 minutes of his gameplay.
Luka showed a brilliant display of his offensive actions and returned with the double figures in scoring points. Boban Marjanovic was the leader in rebounds with 13 rebounds along with scoring 17 points.
The scrimmage may be unofficial but it also served as the best practice for both the sides as it helped the sides to test their bench strength and also try new players who joined them ahead of the season restart in Orlando.
Dallas Mavericks will resume their season by facing Houston Rockets on July 31 while Los Angeles Lakers will meet their arch-rivals LA Clippers on July 30.
