Recently BCCI confirmed that India will be touring South Africa for three-Test and ODI series and T20 series has been excluded now due to a new strain of COVID-19 virus which is prevalent in South Africa and the reason behind BCCI agreed to tour South Africa after the former was assured by the latter’s cricket board about the strict bio-secure bubble.

Due to these advancements, CSA has re-announced its schedule about three ODI and Test series in detail.

The Test series will fall under the second cycle of the World Test Championship while the ODI series will formulate a part of the ICC Men’s World Cup Super League – the qualification tournament for the 2023 ODI World Cup.

The updated schedule is as follows:

1st Test: 26-30 December, 2021 – Centurion

2nd Test: 03-07 January, 2022 – Johannesburg

3rd Test: 11-15 January, 2022 – Cape Town

1st ODI: 19 January, 2022  – Paarl

2nd ODI: 21 January 2022 – Paarl

3rd ODI: 23 January, 2022 – Cape Town.

India will be aiming to change the history of winning  Test series in South Africa as the last time they tour Proteas they gave a tough fight to them but couldn’t clinch the series and this time around with no DeVilliers and Du Plessis in the Proteas squad. India is certainly the favorite to win against Proteas provided they tackle Nortje and Rabada pretty well.

Taking about the second cycle of World Test Championship standings, Sri Lanka and Pakistan are placed at number 1 and 2nd spot respectively whereas India is placed at the third spot but the only difference is Men in Blue have played more matches in comparison to these two cricket playing nation. But India is back at the top of the ICC Test team ranking with the victory against Black Caps by 372 runs and they have won in Australia twice followed by a series lead in England with the decider test to be played next year.
