The Portuguese soccer ace became the first person in the world to reach the astronomical figure of 200 million followers on Instagram. To appreciate his achievement, the officials of Instagram posted a photo montage.
Currently, Cristiano Ronaldo is plying his trade in Serie A for the Italian giants, Juventus. The player defeated every other competitor to reach the summit. At present, the player has 200.2 million followers and stands second in the list of all followers. Instagram’s official accounts stand first as it has 330.5 million as on Wednesday.
Talking about the most followed personalities in Instagram, American singer and songwriter, Ariana Grande Butera stands second with 173 million followers and has some ground to reach Cristiano Ronaldo. The third spot is occupied by American-Canadian superstar Dwayne Johnson with 170 million followers.
Further, the list is accompanied by American actress Selena Gomez (160 million), “Keepin up” star Kylie Jenner (160 million), American model Kim Kadarshian (158 million). Cristiano Ronaldo’s arch-rival on the field and Barcelona legend Lionel Messi stands eighth in the list with 148 million followers. Further, the list has Beyonce and Brazilian footballer, Neymar Jr(132 million). In October 2018, former Los Blancos star overtook Selena Gomez to become the most followed person on Instagram.
According to Buzz Bingo, Cristiano Ronaldo, the five-time Ballon d’Or and Euro 2016 winner makes a reported $47.8 million per year with Instagram posts and interactions. On the other hand, the player receives a salary of $34 million a year through football performances for both club and country. According to Forbes, the player makes around $1 million through each of his paid posts on Instagram whereas the reports also suggest that Lionel Messi makes $23.3 million through his Instagram posts which is the second-highest in the world.
Not only on Instagram, but the player is also the most liked athlete on other social media platforms too. Cristiano Ronaldo is the most-liked athlete on Facebook with 122.3 million likes and 124 million followers.
