Cristiano Ronaldo becomes first player to score league goals in 22 consecutive seasons

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick last night to inspire Al-Nassr to a 5-1 victory over Al-Fateh on matchday 3 of the Roshn Saudi League. After bagging 3 goals last night, Ronaldo has become the first player in the history to score a league goal in 22 consecutive seasons in a row.

It was Al-Nassr’s first victory in SPL this season, having lost both of their previous 2 matches against Al-Ettifaq and Al-Taawoun by 2-1 and 2-0. Ronaldo after missing the first league game due to injury but came back in time for Match day 2.

Although he could not lead Al-Nassr to a victory but Ronaldo and co. reached very close to score goals but luck did not favor them. However, luck was by their side last night at the Prince Abdullah Bin Jalawi Stadium. Al-Nassr’s front men, Sadio Mane and Cristiano Ronaldo ran the entire show.

Mane, the former Liverpool and Bayern Munich opened the scoring in the 27th minute through an assist by his Portuguese captain. Then Ronaldo joined the party and scored a trademark header to bag his first of the season.

10 minutes into the 2nd-half, the 38-year-old tripled Al-Nassr’s lead with an one-touch finish as he took advantage of Al-Fateh goalkeeper’s poor positioning during a counter-attack. In the 81st minute, Sadio Mane netted his second goal through another header.

Al-Nassr’s wonderful night was rounded off by a 3rd goal by Cristiano Ronaldo in extra time. The move started from the right wing area and CR7 was in the right place once again to turn in his 3rd goal to make it 5-0. It was the 2016 UEFA Euros winner’s 63rd senior hat-trick and also became the only player to score in 22 consecutive seasons.

He has now scored 17 Saudi Pro League goals and first 3 of the brand new season with many more to come. On Matchday 4, Al-Nassr are set to welcome 14th placed Al-Shabab on 29th August.
