The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup ended in a disappointment for India as they were beaten up by the mighty Australians in the high-octane finals of the tournament. Batting first, the opening pair of Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney stitched a partnership of over 100 runs to take their side to a match-winning total. Skipper Meg Lanning played a little cameo to take Australia to a massive total of 184 for the loss of four wickets in their 20 overs.

Chasing 185, India’s debacle started from the very first over when they lost Shafali Verma for just 2 runs and under than span of just 30 runs, Indians lost four of their best batters. The idea of winning the cup was looking bleak but all hopes were dashed after they were seven down for just 92 runs. The only thing they wanted is to reach the three-digit mark but the ruthless Aussies even denied that to India.

The Women in Blue were bundled out for just 99 and lost the game by 85 runs. Megan Schutt was the pick of the bowlers as she picked up 4 wickets.

As soon as the final got finished, the social media was lit up with congratulatory messages for Team India for putting up a great show during the tournament. Many legends of the games also praised the Women In Blue for their performances.

Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar congratulated the team and noted that the team will be a solid unit soon. The legendary batsman also thanked the team for inspiring millions of people across the globe. He also sent his best wishes to Team Australia for winning the title for the record fifth time.

The skipper of the India Women’s ODI team, Mithali Raj also shared how she felt about the team’s performance during the tournament. The veteran urged the fans to keep supporting Women’s Cricket because only good things are in store for the viewers.

Windies legend and one of the greatest cricketers of all-time, Sir Vivian Richards had a lot of motivational words for the Indian team. He wrote that the whole team was phenomenal through the tournament and they will get their hands on the trophy soon.
