The Christchurch terror attack will be the darkest chapter in Cricket history. This was the second sponsored terrorist attack on cricket fraternity. Last time the terror strike the world was way back in 2009 in Lahore when Sri Lankan national cricketers were attacked by terrorists and later cricketers were airlifted to safety.

The consequence was Pakistan lost the right to host international matches at home venues. Since Pakistan cricket has reached its lowest, once a talent factory has now shrunk to a mediocre team fighting for survival on international forum.

10 years later a terror attack in a mosque in Christchurch has almost got some Bangladeshi cricketers in trouble. The team was routed to pray at the Masjid Al Noor in Christchurch before heading to play the third test match against New Zealand. And as they were about to enter the mosque, a woman warned the team about the firing and asked them to leave the place at once.

Bangladeshi batsman Tamim Iqbal also shared his horrific experience on Twitter stating “Entire team got saved from active shooters!!! Frightening experience and please keep us in your prayers.”

Bangladesh based reporter Mohammad Isam renowned for writing sport based articles on ESPNcricinfo heard Tamim telling him “There’s shooting here, please save us.” Isam first thought Tamim was joking but soon, his cracking voice gave the indication that something was terribly wrong. “He says that I should call the police as there’s a shooting going on inside the mosque where they are about to enter,”

Once the news erupted the match was cancelled, New Zealand has already won the series 2-0 before heading towards the third test.
