Chelsea reaches FA Cup finals by upsetting Manchester United 3-1

Chelsea outclassed the Manchester United by 3-1 as they advanced into the finals of the FA Cup on Monday. It is also Frank Lampard’s first FA Cup finals as a manager with since his appointment last November.

Chelsea managed to excel into the FA Cup finals thrice in the last four years and also registered its first win against United since 2018 FA Cup finals.

The match was a monotonous deadlock with no goals from either side. Desperate for a goal, Solskjaer deliberately sent in the striker Anthony Martial in the place of Baily in the 45th minute of the game.

Nine minutes later i.e., in the 56th minute the Wembley Stadium sparkled by the first goal off Olivier Giroud as he was well assisted by Azpilicueta and helped him score a brilliant footer. Chelsea were 1-0 into the halftime of the match and also proved themselves a better playing side in the first half.

The second half started and within a minute and this time Mason Mount charged from outside the box and surpassed United keeper David de Gea by a few seconds to register the second goal for the side. Solskjaer must be disappointed on David for his heedless approach.

The situation worsened for the United when Harry Maguire inflicted an own goal in the 74th minute as it was clear that the United rout had given up on the game. Marcos Alonso shot from the right, attempting for a goal which angled from Maguire’s foot towards the goal, also adding to the woes of Solskjaer.

The Red Devils finally had their first goal during the 85th minute of the match as this time Bruno Fernandes confused Caballero and shot a beautiful penalty goal. The scores were 3-1 but already enough destruction by the Blues in the match.

Chelsea won and also reached the finals of the FA Cup for the 14th time. Frank Lampard was way happier with his side’s performance against the Manchester United as he said after the win, “I can’t ask for any more than that – may be a couple more goals – and that’s surprising when you play against a team of their quality. More than that, it was the work ethic of the performance.”

Chelsea will now meet Arsenal in the finals of the FA Cup at the Wembley Stadium on August 1.
