As per the reports, CSK player and a few staff members tested positive for the coronavirus after reaching the airport. As a result, CSK will have to stay in isolation for a 14-day period instead of 6. According to the protocols, each team had to serve a 6-day quarantine period upon reaching UAE. During this period, they underwent as many as three tests in 6-day period.

CSK’s mandatory quarantine period was supposed to end on 27th of August and the team would have hit the net on 28th August 2020. However, now with members being tested positive for the virus, CSK have to extend the quarantine period for one more week. It has been learnt that the whole contingent has undergone 4th test on Friday, the results of which will come out on Saturday.

Even when football started in Europe, a few players had tested positive. So with eight IPL teams and over 1000 members, this was a possibility. This could have happened to any team. It is just unlucky that it has happened to CSK despite taking all kinds of precautions,” the source told TOI on Friday.

The Indian Premier League is scheduled to start on 19th September 2020. The final of the 13th edition of the tournament will be played on 10th November 2020.
