Cricketer Bradley Thomas James Wheal, who plays for Hampshire and has been selected to represent Scotland, was born on August 28,  of the year1996. Brad Wheal bats right-handed and bowls right-handed quick medium. On January 26, 2016, Brad Wheal made his Scotland One Day International (ODI) debut against Hong Kong in the 2015–17 ICC World Cricket League Championship. On January 30, 2016, Brad Wheal played in his first Twenty 20 international (T20I) match for Scotland against Hong Kong.

Early Life

Wheal was born to a Scottish mother on August 28, 1996, in Durban, South Africa. Bradley Thomas James Wheal graduated in the month of December of the year 2014 from the Clifton School in Durban. Bradley Thomas James Wheal started playing cricket at the under-19 level with the Kwazulu-Natal youth teams. Bradley Thomas James Wheal also played youth field hockey for the province. Dale Benkenstein, the head coach of Hampshire and an assistant coach with the Dolphins in Durban, noticed him playing under-19 cricket.

Domestic Career

Due to a lack of fast bowlers in the county and just Chris Wood and Tom Barber being available as backups for the first team side, Wheal impressed Benkestein and was given the opportunity to sign a development contract with Hampshire for the 2015 season.

Wheal made a big impression during preseason, playing effectively in games on the Barbados tour and in a friendly match against Kent. Brad Wheal subsequently put up a good display for Hampshire’s 2nd XI against Middlesex 2nd XI, taking 10 wickets in the match, earning himself a call-up to the first squad for the match against Middlesex on May 17, 2015. In this game, Hampshire batted first, and Wheal batted at position 10 and finished 3 not out. Sam Robson, the Middlesex opener, was bowled out by Wheal in the first Middlesex innings, costing the team 10 runs. Brad Wheal’s 20 overs resulted in statistics of 1/97 as Middlesex was dismissed for 362. Due to the weather, the game would end in a tie.

Brad Wheal was acquired by the London Spirit in the month of April of the year 2022 in preparation for The Hundred’s 2022 season.

International Career

Through Brad Wheal’s parents, Wheal is in possession of a British passport. Brad Wheal stated his desire to represent England after joining Hampshire and meeting the residency requirements.

Wheal’s mother qualifies him to represent Scotland. Brad Wheal took seven wickets while playing for a Scotland XI versus MCC in August 2015 at Titwood, Glasgow. Brad Wheal’s selection for the whole Scotland team was subsequently expedited, and in the month of December of the year 2015, Brad Wheal was included in the squad for the tour to Hong Kong, which was played the following month.

Brad Wheal was selected for the Scotland provisional team for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in the month of September of the year 2021.
