Boxer Amit Panghal Conferred ‘Haryana Gaurav” Award In UK

The Haryana in UK Association has conferred “Haryana Gaurav” award to the boxer Amit Panghal for winning the silver medal in the World Boxing Championship.

The association also honored the International Sports Curator Sunil Yash Kalra along with Panghal.

On the occasion of Haryana Day, the member of British Parliament from Southall, London, Virendra Sharma, attended the special event organized in London’s Osterley Park Hotel. He honored Panghal and Kalra with the prestigious awards.

The awards are presented every year to those who have been successful to leave a mark in the field of sports. Earlier in 2018, the boxer Manoj Kumar was conferred with the same award.

Amit Panghal was recently conferred with the Arjun Award as well by the Indian government. As far as Kalra is concerned, he curated a unique hockey exhibition in the UK during the Hockey Women’s World Cup 2018.

After receiving the Haryana Gaurav Award, Amit Panghal said, “I am very happy to be honored by the British diaspora. It is truly glorious to see the fast growing Haryanvi culture in foreign lands. My heartfelt thanks to Haryana UK Association for this award. With so much love we are motivated to do even better in the Olympics 2020.”

Sunil Yash Kalra was equally ecstatic as he said, The awards are a reflection of hard work, which especially enhances the sense of accomplishment. The creative work, which is a game for me, is better than being awarded at the international level.

The MP Virender Sharma, who was the chief guest at the program, also expressed his happiness over the fact that sportsmen are emerging out of Haryana on a regular basis and are bringing glory to India with their performances in the international events as well as Olympics. Sharma hopes that it continues in future as well.
