Borussia Dormund star could make a departure this month

Borussia Dortmund’s star midfielder Mario Gotze could make his move away from the German side as a result of non-agreement between the club and the player.

Mario Gotze was on the fringes of Borussia Dortmund’s lineup and made just 11 appearances for the Bundesliga side this season.

Moreover, Erling Braut Haaland’s arrival at the helm of Signal Iduna Park could further shorten the opportunities of World Cup winner Mario Gotze.

Mario Gotze is famously known for his late goal in the final of World Cup 2014 against Argentina which ultimately became the winning goal.

From the start of the season, it appeared that he is not fully included by Lucien Favre in his plans.

Amid all this, reports have emerged that Mario Gotze could leave Lucien Favre’s side in the coming days for free.

Gotze returned to Signal Iduna Park in 2016, having previously left to join rivals Bayern Munich in a €37million (£31m) deal in 2013.

He returned to Dortmund in a £20m transfer two years later.

However, injury problems have seen him used sporadically by Borussia Dortmund, who offered new terms the 27-year-old deemed unsatisfactory, meaning he will become a free agent at the end of the season.

Previously reports claimed that Arsenal was interested to sign Mario Gotze back in June. However, some reports claim that Hertha Berlin has also interest to acquire his services.

In this way, Mario Gotze’s intriguing football career could take another twist and as he boasts potential many teams could be tempted. Furthermore, as he is set to become a free agent should he leave the German club, there could be a battle between European clubs to sign him.

Borussia Dortmund currently sits 4th in the standings of Bundesliga. They face Mainz in their Bundesliga return on 11th January. While, RB Leipzig are flying high in the top division of German football, as they top the Bundesliga table. They have 37 points in the bag in 17 games in the Bundesliga. While Borussia Monchengladbach sits second with 35 points, Bayern Munich has 33 points and Borussia Dortmund is in fourth place with 30 points in the bag.
