Birthday wishes pour in for Yuvraj Singh on his 38th birthday

One of the biggest match-winners for India, and among the best all-rounders in the world, former India cricketer Yuvraj Singh turns 38 years old today. When you recall India’s World T20 triumph 2007 and ODI World Cup triumph in 2011, Yuvraj is among the first names that come to mind as he played a big role in both those victories. In the 2011 World Cup, Yuvraj was the man of the tournament.

On the icon’s birthday, several of his teammates have been wishing him on social media.

“Birthday wishes to one of the biggest match-winner India has ever had @YUVSTRONG12. Enjoy your day prince, have a good one,” wrote Gautam Gambhir on Twitter.

“Happy birthday brother @YUVSTRONG12 May Waheguru bless you with all the happiness, love, peace and everything you want,” tweeted Bhajji.

“A true champion and an inspiration to many, here’s wishing @YUVSTRONG12 a very happy birthday,” the BCCI tweeted.

International Cricket Council (ICC) tweeted the video of Yuvraj hitting six sixes to Stuart Broad in the 2007 World T20 as their tribute to the cricketer.

For those who have forgotten, India were batting first when Yuvraj Singh came to the crease in the 17th over and two overs later, Yuvraj Singh tore into Stuart Broad, hitting six sixes in an over.

The post-retirement phase for him, though, he been the kind he would like to forget. The southpaw kept knocking the doors of the Indian team for a while but was kept out of the loop as he failed to pass the yo-yo fitness test.

Yuvraj represented India in 40 Tests, 304 ODIs and 58 T20Is from which he scored 1900, 8701 and 1177 runs respectively, while also taking nine, 111 and 28 wickets.

Since hanging up his boots, Yuvi has played in the Global T20 League in Canada and the Abu Dhabi T10 League in the UAE. In the IPL, though, he was not utilised by the Mumbai Indians much in 2019, after which the batsman decided to retire himself from the tournament.
