Binod Bhandari, a Nepalese cricket player, was born on January 25, 1990. Bhandari bats right-handed and occasionally keeps wickets. Bhandari debuted for the Nepal cricket team in the month of November of the year 2009 against Kuwait.
Binod Bhandari also serves as the National League’s Tribhuwan Army Club’s captain and is the star player for the Everest Premier League’s Pokhara Rhinos.
Playing Cricket Career
Binod Bhandari’s international career got off to a rather unique start. In his debut game against Kuwait in the 2009 ACC Twenty20 Cup, Binod hit a last-ball six to rescue Nepal from an impending defeat. Binod, who was playing his maiden match, was in strike when he hit the ball for a six, tying the game. Nepal finally won the game in a bowl-out, and Binod gained popularity among the audience. In his very first game for Nepal, he has shown glimmers of his offensive batting.
After the blitz against Kuwait, Binod’s experience with the national team was rather quiet until he made it clear he was staying with his two sixes against the UAE in the 2013 ACC Twenty20 Cup semi-final, which gave Nepal a first-time final appearance. His explosive performance in the National Twenty20 championship game helped Nepal Army Club end the dominance of APF Club in domestic cricket.
During his two innings of batting in the 2014 Asian Games, Binod scored 53 runs, batting at an average of 53. When Bermuda played in the 2014 ICC World Cricket League Division Three match in Malaysia, he hit an unbeaten 43 off just 31 balls and was named man of the match.
He scored 144 runs in six innings at an average of 28.80 in Division Two of the 2015 ICC World Cricket League, including a fifty against Kenya. After being selected to take part in the Emerging Trophy Tournament, a three-day cricket competition, by the Kalutura Physical Culture Club, Binod Bhandari traveled to Sri Lanka in the month of February of the year 2015.
Binod Bhandari was included on Nepal’s roster for the 2018 Asia Cup Qualifier competition in August of that year. Bhandari was selected for the Nepal team in the Eastern sub-region group in the month of October of the year 2018 for the 2018–19 ICC World Twenty20 Asia Qualifier competition.
On January 25, 2019, Bhandari played his first One Day International (ODI) for Nepal against the United Arab Emirates.
Binod Bhandari was included in Nepal’s roster for the Regional Finals of the 2018–19 ICC T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier competition in June 2019.
Bhandari was included in the Nepalese team in September 2019 for the Oman Pentangular Series and the Singapore Tri-Nation Series. He hit a quick 58 not out to help his team win the Pentangular Series match against Hong Kong. That inning included three sixes and four fours.
On November 6, 2019, while the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) was touring Nepal, Binod Bhandari made his first-class debut for Nepal against them. Bhandari was included in Nepal’s team later that month for the 2019 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup in Bangladesh. He was also included in the roster for the cricket competition at the 2019 South Asian Games for Nepal. Bhandari was one of those 18 cricketers who received a central contract from the Cricket Association of Nepal in the month of September of the year 2020.
