The Board of Control for Cricket in India has officially released the runner-up amount to the national women’s side which they won last year in ICC Women’s world cup 2020.  The announcement came after the team left for the tour of England.

However, the world’s richest cricket board received huge flak last month for not releasing the runner-up amount to the Indian women’s team as the marquee event ended on 8th March 2020 but the news related to women’s team no receiving their runner up amount started surfacing on social media.

“The BCCI had last month asked all the members of the Indian women’s team to send an invoice to claim their prize money for the T20 World Cup, as well as the home series against South Africa. Once the players raised the invoices, we cleared their payment within a day or two. Thus, all the dues of the women’s team have now been cleared,” a reliable source told TOI

Apparently, all the team members of the women’s side received $26,000 as prize money for the T20 world cup on account of India ended up being second in the finals against Australia.

The India men’s and women’s team have already reached England where the boys are gearing up for the inaugural World Test Championship final on the other end women will be gearing up to play Test match after a period of seven years against England on June 16th, 2021.
