The Board of Control for Cricket in India( BCCI) has decided to waive off INR 79.80 crore rupees for Star Sports due to media rights agreement.
Dwelling more into the details, Media Rights Agreement deal for the year 2018-2023 was suppose to be held for 102 matches instead of 103 matches.
Based on reports from different media outlets, Star Sports had discussed with BCCI to waive off 139 crores due to COVID-19 outbreak.
Eventually BCCI, decided to waived off close to 80 crores as the upcoming media rights is up for grab, for 2023-2027 season, Viacom 18 along with Jio Cinema along with Star Sports , Sony Live and Zee5 will be up against each other for the media rights.
Talking about the past details, broadcasting media rights for 2018-2023 was close to 6140 crore where per match fees of distinct season starting from 2018-19 will be close to 46 crore rupees, 2019-20 will be close to 47 crore rupees, 2020-21 will be close to 46 crore, 2021-22 will be close 77 crore rupees and 2022-23 will be equivalent to 78.90 crore rupees.
When we talk about the current broadcasting rights of ongoing IPL, TV rights is with Star Sports and streaming rights will be given to Jio Cinema.
BCCI is currently organizing Indian Premier League 2023 where top 10 teams will be gearing up against each other for the coveted crown.
Post IPL, Men in Blue will be gearing up for the next edition of World Test Championship Final where they will be facing Australia at Oval for the prestigious title.
After World Test Championship final, India will be playing Asia Cup along with other Asian teams where they will also face arch rivals Pakistan for the coveted trophy.
BCCI another biggest tournament will be none other than Men’s ODI World Cup 2023, where they will again face Men in Green where they might play against each other in New Delhi.
