Ali Naseer received his maiden ODI cap in the first of the three-match series between WI and UAE with this, and the all-rounder, who was making his international cricket debut, also gave the UAE’s bowlers something to defend.

When the in-form Asif Khan fell, the home team was in a precarious position at 107 for five when the 19-year-old university student onto the pitch.
That quickly changed to 126 for six, then 145 for seven as Dominic Drakes and Odean Smith quickly caught up to Rohan Mustafa and Aayan Khan.
But Naseer found a capable ally in the form of fellow youngster Meiyappan. Between them, they shared 48 for the eighth wicket to edge the hosts up towards 200.
Naseer had a glittering role. By the time he was removed for 58, the left-hander had scored 50 runs in 47 balls and smashed two sixes and five fours.
Finally, the UAE was all out for 202, and West Indies won the game by taking the mark with just 3 wickets lost.
Although the UAE narrowly missed victory in the thrilling encounter against the West Indies, Naseer’s performance left a lasting impact on the game. His contribution with both bat and ball demonstrated his potential as a valuable asset to the UAE cricket team.
