Soumyajit Ghosh Biography- Soumyajit Ghosh is an Indian Table Tennis player who made it into the headlines after he defeated Sharath Kamal at the 74th National Table Tennis Championships at just 19 years of age. He was also the youngest Indian player to qualify for the 2012 London Olympics.

Achanta Soumyajit Ghosh was born on 10th May 1993 in Siliguri, West Bengal. He belonged to a middle-class family with his father Hari Shankar Ghosh working in the local municipal corporation. His mother Mina Ghosh is a homemaker. He is the lone child in the family. He chose table tennis for his career at a young age. So he started taking table tennis lessons from a young age only. His father got him enrolled in the Siliguri Table Tennis academy when he was just 5 years of age. Since then he never looked back as he went on to live his passion.

Soumyajit Ghosh got married to a girl named Tulika Dutta who accused him of rape in 2018. He lives in Kolkata along with his family. He has had a rough personal life as he has been accused of domestic abuse. For that, he was placed under the provisional suspension and dropped from the Indian team for the Commonwealth Games in 2018.

- Soumyajit Ghosh started off his career in 2008 when he participated in Junior Commonwealth Games. There he grabbed the attention of Bhawana Mukherjee as he won the Silver medal in the competition.
- In 2010, Ghosh won mixed doubles bronze medal at the World Junior Championships in Bahrain. He was also exceptional when the national team clinched the bronze medal in the World Junior Championships in 2011.

CONTROVERSIES:
He was accused of sexual harassment and rape by an 18 years old girl of Barasat, Kolkata due to which he was banned by the Table Tennis Federation of India. A case was registered under the POSCO Act as the girl was a minor during the period she claimed she was raped by the player. However, Soumyajit rubbished all the claims but his ban was still not lifted and he couldn’t play in the 2018 Commonwealth Games. He also missed out on Asian Games squads too. Again in 2019, his wife Tulika Dutta filed an FIR against him and the family for physical and mental torture.
